How can anyone think the bible is inerrant?
Amazingly, one doesn't really have to believe that the bible in inerrant to become a Christian. The basis for believing the bible is inerrant comes from faith in the person of Jesus Christ. If we believe Jesus Christ is who He says He is, we have great reason to believe the scriptures are inerrant. Jesus said that not even a jot or tittle of the law would pass away (Matt. 5:18). He quoted the Old Testament as authoritative (Matt. 4:4, 7, 10 and others). He said the scriptures cannot be broken (Jn. 10:35). If we believe that Jesus is God come to earth in human form, we can easily believe that He has the power to preserve His word for us without error. He has power to write to us through men, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is for real and He is not a liar, and therefore I can believe that His word is inerrant.
